The Mason’s Arms

The Masons Arms Country Inn, is situated overlooking the village green of Gilcrux. It’s centuries old and has reclaimed ships’ timbers in its structure, a warm welcome awaits you from Howard, Lynda and staff to this traditional country inn, the lounge has a huge stone built fireplace and log burner as a focal point, on the solid oak bar is a selection of Theakston’s legendary cask real ales, along side other branded keg draught beers wines and spirits, there is a games room with pool table and darts board. The Beeches Caravan Park 

A small, quiet park. Luxury static caravans are available for hire on a weekly basis or for short breaks. The park is open all year round. Big White House

The large self catering house is ideal for family parties, get-togethers, family reunions and corporate events and unlike camping barns and hostels the Big White House offers sole use Four star self catering holiday accommodation. The Big White House offers group short breaks all year around as well as full weeks. The house can accommodate groups of up to twenty four people in the eleven bedrooms; the house also provides large kitchen and dining areas for group meals; as well as separate lounge areas. No longer a working farm, Ellen Hall is now a romantic hide away, set in a peaceful vale near to the river Ellen in Cumbria. It’s an ideal retreat for exploring the Lake District, providing stress-free getaways for busy people and a peaceful haven for those with time to linger. With a small brook running through the garden, this is a place where guests can enjoy the soothing sounds of water and birdsong, while soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. Hollybank Holiday Cottages

Three beautiful and charming self-contained cottages are ideal for a private and relaxing getaway. All features a state-of-the-art, fully fitted kitchen, spacious living and luxurious bedrooms. Hollybank House boasts of an 11 seater silver screen cinema room fitted with Premier seats containing cup holders (just like the real cinema). It has 4 large bedrooms (including a stunning main bedroom with its own en suite and dressing room. Sleep up to 8 people. Hollybank Cottage has the added bonus of a large games room with pool table, tv and large seating area, making this a great social room. It has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to 9 people. Holly Cottage is a cosy 2 bedroom cottage that is all on 1 level. Sleeps up to 4 people. Gilcrux Springs Trout Farm

3 artificial ponds stocked with brown and rainbow trout. one pond only for fly fishing and the other two for just sticking a bit of bait on the hook and casting it out. A great day out for the family. Telephone Mr Pike: 016973 22488

St Mary’s Church

St. Mary’s church sits atop of a mound in the centre of the village. The church dates back to Norman times and was renovated in the late 13th century. The church has an Anglo-Danish Norse cross on its roof  and contains a glass altar screen of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting of The Last Supper.
